FBI Laboratory Positions — FBICryptanalysis & Racketeering Records Unit. Applicants are thoroughly investigated prior to FBI employment. GS- 9: In addition to the above requirements, serves as an FE responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating, and directing forensic science activities; reporting results; provides testimony; provides support and assistance to senior FEs; conducts examinations of highly complex evidence involving clandestine businesses; deciphers cryptic notations into meaningful notations to determine if evidence is of a legitimate nature or an illicit racketeering activity; assists with preparation of court exhibits; prepares worksheet, records findings, and prepares draft laboratory reports; completes necessary training; assists at crime scene locations; and responds to routine inquiries pertaining to examinations. Must perform involved examinations; assist in portions of complex examinations of clandestine business records; possess knowledge of general procedures used to process crime scenes; assist senior examiners in conducting training; and have knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices.
